Man City superstar now on the agenda of Real Madrid – report
Ahead of the summer transfer window, the rumors surrounding Man City are in full flow. Despite still being some time away from the opening of the window, the Citizens continue to be linked to various players. However, even the players at Manchester City are not safe it seems.
One of the names who will likely be a main attraction for major European sides will be Bernardo Silva. The 29-year-old Man City star is among the best midfielders in the world, and one whose consistency and quality have shown to have no bounds time and time again.
Many reports have recently linked him to a move away to Spain. Most of them suggest it is FC Barcelona who could be his most viable destination. However, due to the inability of the Catalan giants to produce the funds needed to ensure this particular operation’s feasibility, another club may end up taking charge.
According to the Daily Star, Spanish giants Real Madrid are now quite interested in Silva. Unlike their Clasico rivals, Los Blancos are not in a fragile financial state, and can look to afford Silva if they deem him to be the right fit for their team moving forward.
As per the report, that seems to be exactly the case. With Luka Modric, Madrid’s great Croatian leader and veteran, expected to part ways with the Spanish side sooner rather than later, the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners are thinking of looking at life beyond Modric.
That is where Silva reportedly comes into the picture. Having taken on one another directly over the past couple of seasons, those at Real Madrid believe that he would be the ideal candidate to replace Luka Modric. Aged 29 and in the prime of his career, Bernardo Silva brings both quality and experience.
With multiple Premier League titles under his belt, coupled with a Champions League title as well as several cup trophies, the Portuguese star is not at a loss for a shining trophy cabinet.
However, with Barcelona and now Real Madrid looming closer, it seems improbable to ensure the continuity of Bernardo Silva in Manchester.
